Huber Woods Field Trip

The 4th graders enjoyed a field trip to Huber Woods Environmental Center in Middletown the week of October 10th.  Continuing studies from their classroom, they learned about the daily lives of the Lenape Indians via a series of activities that included weaving baskets and fabric and also playing traditional games.  Working in small groups, they learned the importance of not only teamwork but also experiencing what the Lenape Indians endured in building a longhouse dwelling.  What an incredible experience!  Your PTA was able to offset the cost of this trip for our students.

The canvas was added.  We learned that the Lenape actually used tree bark as "shingles" for their houses.
